Holiday Coffee Drop – “GJALLARHORN”
“On the day the Gjallarhorn is blown, it will wake the gods, no matter where they are, no matter how deeply they sleep.” – Neil Gaiman
Believed to be the inspiration behind the drinking horns of the Norsemen, Gjallarhorn was the treasure of the watchful god Heimdall. Heimdall used this great “yelling horn” to drink the waters of wisdom from the Well of Mimir, and gain great knowledge. It had a deeper purpose however, and when the days of Ragnorak come, Heimdall will use this mighty tool to alert and awaken the gods so they may prepare for the battle to come.
Our first coffee drop “GJALLARHORN” is something special. A beautiful coffee from the Worka Sakaro washing station in Ethiopia, its flavor and aromas are deeply influenced by the natural process anaerobic fermentation it undergoes inside the coffee cherry while drying. Once expertly roasted for us by our friends at Otus Coffee, the result is deeply fruity and unique, with ripe mango, floral hibiscus, bright blood orange, dark luxurious cherry, and tangy pineapple notes turning up.
It works beautifully as a pour over / drip coffee, and shines as a wild and captivating espresso. You’ll be obsessively sniffing and slurping your cup to pick everything out. It really is that interesting!
